Greenville, SC – Hospice of the Upstate has named Robert Wilson, Spero Financial Senior Vice President of Lending and Sales, as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Since 1988, Hospice of the Upstate has served the Anderson community, and now the entire Upstate of South Carolina, as a not-for-profit, community-based organization. The organization serves over 1,000 families each year.
As Chairman of the Board, Robert will oversee the board and executive committee meetings, work alongside the board and management to establish goals and objectives for the company’s strategic plan, and raise community awareness of the organization.
Robert was introduced to Hospice of the Upstate in 2006 when his father was under their care. After his father’s death, he and his mother went through volunteer training, allowing them to visit with patients and their families. In 2014, the organization asked him to serve as a member of the Board, and he has served since.

Outside of Hospice of the Upstate, Robert currently serves on the Anderson University Board of Visitors (member), Anderson University Athletics Advisory Board (member), and Innovate Anderson Board of Directors (treasurer). During basketball season, you can find him on the court as the volunteer Assistant Coach for the Girls Varsity Program at Christ Church Episcopal High School – the 2022 AA South Carolina State Girls Basketball Champions.
Robert has also served as the President of the Anderson University Alumni Board of Directors, South Carolina Credit Union League Board of Directors, Anderson County Junior Achievement Board of Directors, and Treasurer of the South Carolina Credit Union Management Association – to name a few.
As an alumnus of Anderson University (then, Anderson Junior College) and Clemson University, Robert married his college sweetheart Amanda, and they have three grown children: Merritt, Addie (Clint son-in-law), and Creighton.
