TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY
Dave has been working with credit unions for over 15 years. He started out in Credit Card Operations for a company that serviced credit unions. In this role, he had a hand in creating proposals for credit unions, negotiating contracts with credit unions, and overall vision planning alongside credit unions. From there, he moved into Strategic Consulting, where he worked with 100s of credit unions on their cards and payment systems. In this role, Dave actually worked alongside Spero for around 8 years before joining the team in December of 2022!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF ADVICE?
“People are in their jobs for a reason.”
Dave says that the people on his team are there because they deserve to be there, and they work hard in their careers. He says that one of his biggest pieces of advice for leaders is to let the people around you do their job while being there to support them along the way!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOUR CURRENT POSITION? WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO WAKE UP IN THE MORNING AND COME TO WORK?
The people! Dave says, “the people here are awesome!” Spero has a fantastic culture, and Dave says that he enjoys the open collaboration that our teams foster. Beyond this, Dave says that he has really enjoyed the ability to learn from the credit union perspective, as he has been used to being on the other side of things as an advisor for credit unions. While he was coming to credit unions to advise them, he is now in the credit union space, and he has enjoyed the ability to learn from a new perspective!
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WOULD TELL YOUR 25-YEAR-OLD SELF IF YOU KNEW THEN WHAT YOU KNOW NOW?
Dave shared that he would emphasize the importance of work-life balance. He said, “Don’t be afraid to take time because it’s so important!” He went on to say that we aren’t living to work, but we are working to live. While it’s important to work hard, it’s also important to prioritize family and life outside of work!
